Founder of Binny Bags, Megan Beswick, explains that it all started at her dining room table in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, when she decided to use her grandmother’s 60 year old upholstery fabric to make a tote bag. Using her domestic sewing machine, Megan was delighted with the end result. Her family also recognized the potential, and with the encouragement of her three sons, Megan started her Binny Bag business, named after Granny Binny. Today she still does all the sewing herself, albeit on a new industrial sewing machine! Orders from all over the world are rolling in.    

Binny Bag totes are big enough to pack all that is needed for the beach or picnic, while the colourful, uniquely South African fabric designs add glamour and style to any outing. The protea (national flower of South Africa) features prominently in the quality outer fabrics, while the inside of the tote is lined with different patterned complementary fabrics. The straps are made from genuine leather and fastened with silver rivets, reinforced inside the bags with leather.

Megan uses small local businesses for all her fabrics and most of the bags are one-of-a-kind.
